You have hit the nail on the head Jo. I think many people retire without putting a plan of action/purpose/reason to get out of bed in place. Ok, it is fine for a few months to get all the jobs that needed to be done out of the way but what happens next? It is that metaphorical springing out of bed(physically no can do anymore) looking forward to whatever it is one has chosen to do that keeps us ticking over nicely! Physically and mentally. There are lots of new things to try, personally I am looking forward to falling out of bed into the swimming pool in 2 months time!
A thoughtful response and thanks for sharing with us a bit about your Mum. She sounds an accomplished lady. You're no slouch if you get offered a scholarship at the London School of Music!
And yes, I have tuned out the 'find your passion', your purpose, get into the flow some time ago ... ppfft! These things just don't happen out of the blue on a Tuesday morning (although they may happen after drinking some Yorkshire tea - perhaps that's where I've been going wrong - lol - too strong for me).
The fire within is exactly that. It’s up to you what you do with your life. I don’t get the folks that fade away after the loss of a job, the loss of a whatever. Oh boo. Poor you. Find your dream, whatever it is and go! And then don’t stop.
I needed this today!! I am 66 and semi retired. I have been seeking all my working life to find what my "purpose" is! Still haven't found it.....lol. It is not easy finding work at this stage in life. Employers seem to see you as a liability rather than an asset. I am in the process of revamping how I will remain purposeful for my remaining years. Wish me luck......
Hey Joy, what I've found most useful in recent years is working out what my purpose is right now. Not my one calling or what I'm supposed to be doing forever, but what am I interested in, curious about, passionate about at this moment in my life. I've tended to live in themes rather than one singular direction. Hope that helps! 😁

Oh yes! That and trying various Khao Soi's, maybe a massage or 2! 😎

I drink it with copious amounts of milk. I like it very milky - I'm a Southerner after all! 😂

A reason to get out of bed sounds small until you see what happens when it disappears.
Exactly...

Thank you for that, Jo! It does help. I am looking forward to the next chapter/s in this life. I have lots of life yet to live!!
