The Fastest Route to Start Generating an Income Online and Travel the World!
And no, you don’t have to sell your body!
And no, you don’t have to sell your body!
I met a great friend for coffee today.
She wanted to ask my advice on how to start a dropshipping business.
I explained that while the model is simple to set up, and sure many have great success, you need to build a super-strong brand and become an ads genius to make this model work (with some cash to burn.)
We went on to discuss, print on demand (probably my fave ecommerce business model.)
With print on demand, you can create your own store, sell on a print on demand marketplace like Redbubble, even make a lot of money selling digital printables on Etsy!
It’s a great business model.
However, due to the low barrier to entry (much like dropshipping), again a very strong brand is required.
Plus it’s more suited to a designer/arty personality (or the cash to hire a good designer) and the best way to promote your products is via influencer marketing.
So, you need to be happy to send hundreds of messages a day to influencers to get your products seen.
Hmmm, how about blogging then?
I LOVE blogging. That’s my main business model right now.
However, be prepared to immerse yourself in SEO, beg for links and guest posts, and write hundreds of thousands of words before anyone takes any notice!
Basically, all business models which at some point will require less input for bigger outputs require serious commitment and some cash to get off the ground.
Never have we lived in such an abundant opportunistic world as we do today, but the old ‘money for nothing’ adage just ain’t true!
It doesn’t really matter which business model you choose, you can monetize pretty much all of them with focus and hustle, but there are very few that will start bringing in the cash from day one unless you’ve got cash to spend.
However, if you’re looking for a way to start generating an income online almost immediately, and that allows you to work remotely (like, say from a beach in Fiji) while building your longer-term online business, there is a way!
Freelancing!
The good old time for money model.
The way to approach is to see it as a side hustle to your main lifestyle business.
Rather than having to work 40 hours a week putting money into your boss’s pocket, you get to pick and choose the jobs you want to do, the hours in the day you want to do them, how much you want to be paid, and of course…
…you can work from anywhere!
Here’s How to Get Started Freelancing
What are your skill sets?
What can you offer?
What value can you bring to someone else’s business?
Answer these questions first.
NB: You will have a valuable skill, even if it doesn’t come to you at first. Just start scrolling through freelance sites looking at the jobs and I guarantee, you’ll see things and think ‘I could do that!’
Then;
1. Create a freelancing account on upwork.com, fiverr.com, or freelancer.com, and create an awesome profile.
2. Start bidding for jobs — (the secret to success — craft a bespoke rockstar pitch for each job!)
3. Build a profile and reputation for being amazing and attract loads of jobs and lots of money, giving you the investment needed to get your lifestyle business off the ground.
Don’t be put off by the thousands of other freelancers. As a prolific contract hirer, most outsourcers can’t write a pitch for toffee!
A rockstar pitch is imperative!
The best pitches I’ve seen have been specific, bespoke (not just copy and paste), researched, simple, and to the point.
In fact, the best pitch I ever received had this sentence;
‘let me do a free project for you to start with and if you like it you can pay, if not we can part friends’.
He still does contract work for me now! 😁
Many solopreneurs who started as freelancers, turned their freelance careers into a full-time income and went on to coach others in their niche on how to start a lifestyle business as a freelancer.
The world is your oyster!
Freelancing is without doubt the fastest route to time and location independence!
That’s what I told my buddy and I wanted to share with you.
I hope it helps! :)
