Whoohoo! I’m excited to bring you the very first episode of my new 50+ Nomad Podcast.

I’ve wanted to get back into podcasting for a while now, and Substack makes it beautifully simple. So here we are, just me, my phone, and plenty of stories about living our best lives after 50.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy sharing the journey! 😊🥳

Living The Dream - Ep 1

When I first read The 4-Hour Workweek on a flight home from Cyprus back in 2010, I didn’t realise I was about to change the entire course of my life.

Within months, my husband and I had scooped up our four-year-old daughter, left the UK with minimal funds, and started building a life we didn’t need a holiday from.

15 years on, I’m recording this from Thailand, where we’ve just returned after a few months in Brisbane, and I’m prepping for our next adventure, backpacking through South America.

People tell me I’m “living the dream,” and they’re right, but it’s not luck. We designed this life with intention, and you can too.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode

1. Get crystal clear on your vision
It’s easy to dream in vague terms — “I want to travel” or “I want more freedom.” But clarity changes everything. Decide exactly what your dream life looks like: where you’ll be, what you’ll do each day, how you’ll fund it. The more specific you are, the easier it is to move towards it.

2. Map your “five major moves”
A concept I love from Brendon Burchard: once you know your goal, identify the five big steps that will get you there. For example, if your goal is $5,000/month from an Etsy shop, your five moves might be:

  1. Define your niche,

  2. Launch your store,

  3. List your first products,

  4. Market them,

  5. Build your email list.

Big dreams become manageable when you break them down like this.

3. Protect your profitable hours
Not all work time is equal. Your most focused hours each day should be spent on tasks that move the needle such as creating, selling, building. Planning and research can happen later, but your “profitable hours” are non-negotiable.

Over the years, I’ve learned that dream lives aren’t built in one big leap. They’re created in the ordinary, unglamorous hours where you keep moving forward, even when no one’s watching, when motivation dips, and you’re not sure it’s working.

So don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start with what you have, where you are, and take the first small step. One hour a day is enough to begin.

Your dream life isn’t going to build itself. Get started today. 😊
