Talk To Me, Friends 😎
6 quick questions to help me create better content for you.
Happy Tuesday my adventurous friends.
If you read my post yesterday you’ll know that my BHAG (big hairy assed goal) is:
“To build the most engaged audience of freedom-seeking, adventure loving, life embracing, people over 50 that I possibly can.”
So to that end, I want to know a bit more about you! My fabulous reader/listener… 😎
Thankfully Substack makes this incredibly easy with their ‘poll’ function. So here are a few quick questions that will tell me a bit more about who you are, the type of content you enjoy consuming, and how I can help you best moving forward.
Thanks in advance for answering and if I’ve missed anything vital that you’d love me to consider, please comment below or don’t hesitate to hit reply and send me an email. I love hearing from you! 😁
Let’s go!

Because I am a woman, my voice tends to skew towards women, however my advice and travel content is equally relevant to men (and will be more so, the more I bring my husband into the story!)
So I’d love to know the split of my readers between male & female!

I only get 5 options to add, so I had to generalise this a bit, but let me know in the comments below what country you're from. 😎

Ok so this is an important one, as I recently started publishing daily, which I know is a lot for anyone’s inbox.
The reason is that I’m trying to build a consistent writing practise, plus a higher cadence gives me some solid data about the types of posts that resonate.
But I am aware that not everyone wants daily Jo, so it would be great to know what works best for you, so I can consider my strategy moving forward.
Be honest, you won’t offend me! 😁

I have 3 main pillars:
Funding Freedom (how to build location independent income)
Nomadic life on the road (includes personal musings & more general travel stories)
Aging disgracefully (which includes mindset, life reflections, and the more inspiration type stuff I post)
Plus I’ve introduced weekend roundups. So Saturdays are to roundup the weeks posts, and Sundays are my new note roundups of the best notes I find on Substack through the week.
I’d love to know which post types you enjoy most or if you quite like the variety. If you like say 2 out of the 3, or there’s 1 you’re not keen on, please let me know in the comments below.

Many of you are creators, business builders or thinking about it. If that’s you I’d love to know the kind of posts, interviews, lives and guides, that you’d find genuinely useful to where you are in your journey right now.
Here are the 5 options below in more detail to ensure clarity:
Substack Growth - says what it is on the tin (and includes notes, writing, podcastings, videos, lives and everything associated with Substack)
Audience Building - Social media & email marketing in particular
Writing - I’m not a “writer”. I can’t guide you on the ‘craft’ of writing. But I can talk about writing practise, finding your voice, publishing on KDP, and getting words out into the world consistently. Plus this is an area of my work I’m actively mastering, so if writing is your thing I’m happy to delve more into this as I learn. (NB: There is a crossover with Substack here, so if you clicked Substack, I’ll assume writing skills as part of that.)
Digital Asset Creation - Courses, guides, PDF’s, Gumroad - anything that involves creating and selling digital products.
Ecommerce - Selling on Etsy, Amazon, other marketplaces and print on demand (POD)
There is a bit of crossover in these and naturally there will be with the content, so just pick the one that’s most relevant to you now. Comment below if you want to add anything or clarify your current situation.
Ok I’ll leave it there for now. Six options is enough of your time and we can always do more polls and dig a bit deeper in the future if needs be.
Thank you so much for taking part. Knowing who’s in the room and what would truly help or inspire you makes every post easier to write. So this is super helpful for me.
If there’s something I haven’t asked that you’d like me to know, or anything you’d love more (or less) of, let me know in the comments below.
Thanks again! Have a fab day.
Jo 😊
